“城乡社区和住房规划”学科团队是同济大学依据2011年国务院学科委员会和教育部调整的《学位授予与人才培养学科目录》中确定的二级学科“社区与住房规划”设置的。本团队在原“城市详细规划教研室”的基础上发展而来。其学科领域基本上对应于国家的“城市详细规划”的编制和实施任务，同时还扩展政策分析和制定的研究，并开展相应的课程建设和教学活动，并从事本领域的科学研究、项目咨询等工作。

根据学校和学院所规定的教学科研岗位设置办法，本团队设有学科建设责任教授（A 岗）一名，全面负责本团队的科研、教学工作以及学术队伍建设；并设学科方向负责教授（B 岗）三名，分别主持“城市社区发展”、“城市更新和住房建设”及“乡村发展与规划”这三个学科方向的研究和教学工作。

“城市社区发展”作为城乡规划学和城市社会学学科的交叉研究领域，学术研究的重点是城市社区发展规划的“理论”和“方法”，以及相关政策的分析和制定。其专业实践内容，主要包括贯穿于国家《城乡规划法》规定的城市（镇）的总体规划和详细规划中有关内容以及单独的社区规划的编制和实施。其课程教学对应于上述相关内容的理论课程与实践环节。

“城市更新和住房建设”在专业实践中，主要对应于国家《城乡规划法》所规定的“城市总体规划”和“镇总体规划”的编制和实施中的有关内容；承担城市详细规划课程教学的组织和协调，重点研究和探索城市更新机制、住宅区规划及设计创新。

“乡村发展与规划”注重城乡一体化发展，在专业实践中，依据国家《城乡规划法》所规定的“乡规划”和“村庄规划”的编制和实施的需求而设置，重点开展新型城镇化背景下与乡村规划相关的理论研究和实践活动，及乡村规划理论和设计课程教学。
