同济大学特聘教授、博士生导师，先进土木工程材料教育部重点实验室主任，《建筑材料学报》主编，材料科学与工程学院副院长，国家“万人计划”科技创新领军人才、上海市优秀学术带头人。兼任中国建筑学会建材分会副理事长、中国硅酸盐学会理事、中国硅酸盐分会固废分会与水泥分会副理事长、中国建筑学会混凝土基本理论及其应用专业委员会主任、ACI及RELEM中国分会理事、CCC与CCR编委等学术任职。
从事可持续水泥基材料、低碳建筑材料、固废资源化等领域研究，在Adv. Mat.、Cem. Concr. Res.、Cem. Concr. Comp.等期刊发表学术论文300余篇，被引6000余次，出版专著、译著7部，获中国发明专利80余项，获得国家、省部级奖十余项，其中大掺量工业废渣高性能混凝土高效活性激发与性能调制及应用项目获国家科技进步二等奖。成果在世界第一高桥北盘江大桥、清水河大桥等60多国家重大工程中应用。
